Fire breaks out at Glasgow school as smoke billows across city near M8

A fire has broken out at a school in Glasgow this evening.

Firefighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were called to Abercorn Secondary School in the Cowcaddens area of the city just before 6.20pm.

Smoke can be seen billowing across the city as fire crews battle flames at the building on Garscube Road .

There were no reports of any injuries.

Smoke has been seen coming out of the roof of Abercorn Secondary School in the Cowcaddens area of Glasgow (Google Maps)

A SFRS spokesperson told Glasgow Live : "I can confirm we're in attendance at Gasrscube Road at the moment.

"We received the initial call at 18.19pm.

"We've got no further information at this time."
