Fire breaks out at Bristol laundrette

A woman has been rescued after a fire broke out in a St Werburghs laundrette.

Fire crews from Temple and Southmead were called to the blaze in Mina Road last night (September 2) at around 11.22pm.

As the fire was extinguished, one female casualty was rescued by crews and taken to safety.

Avon Fire and Rescue has said the cause of the fire is thought to be accidental.

"At 11.22pm, two crews from Temple and one from Southmead fire stations were called to a fire in a ground floor laundrette on Mina Road in St Werburghs," a fire service spokesman said.

"On arrival, two firefighters in breathing apparatus used one high pressure hose reel and one 45mm jet to extinguish the fire.

"They also used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the property. One female casualty was rescued by crews and lead to safety.

"The cause is thought to be accidental and crews remained in scene to provide fire safety advice to neighbouring properties."
