Fire blazes at industrial estate as public urged to avoid area

POLICE have issued an "avoid the area" warning as emergency crews battle a blaze at an industrial estate.

Emergency teams are currently dealing with a fire at Biggar Road Industrial Estate in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire.

Due to the incident, police have said Biggar Road is shut at its junction with Bellside Road.

While crews deal with the blaze, motorists and pedestrians are being urged to "avoid the area".

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Emergency services are dealing with a fire at Biggar Road Industrial Estate, Motherwell.

"The road is closed at the junction with Bellside Road.

"Motorists and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area."
