Finsbury Park security alert: Tube station locked down due to 'abandoned car'

Finsbury Park Tube station was shut down due to an abandoned car which police deemed suspicious.

The car was found near the north London underground station.

Officers patrolling the area just before 6pm noticed an abandoned car outside the tube and rail station.

Pictures shared on social media showed emergency services at the scene as commuters gathered on the surrounding streets on Tuesday evening.

At about 6.50pm it was announced the station had been reopened.

One person wrote on Twitter: "Police said drop everything and leave the store (Tesco Express). Still not sure what’s going on but apparently it’s not just limited to the station."

Transport for London tweeted that the station had been closed after a police request.

The vehicle was deemed non-suspicious after an investigation.

National Rail Enquiries originally said trains would be disrupted until 8pm.
