'Finally' - Daniella Westbrook speaks out over troll who targeted her for 6 years

Actress Daniella Westbrook has given her reaction after a woman who trolled her online was sentenced to three years in jail.

Ms Westbrook, who is best known for playing Sam Mitchell in Eastenders between 1990 and 2016, has also appeared on reality TV shows I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and Dancing on Ice.

Natasha Dawn, 43, of Sheridan Court in Stapleford, pleaded guilty to three counts of stalking and was sentenced to three years imprisonment.

She will serve half of her sentence before she is released on conditional bail - which means she can then be recalled to prison if she offends again.

Nottingham Crown Court heard Dawn had targeted a number of victims online, sending them a constant stream of vile abuse, threats and wild accusations from numerous different social media accounts - all having not met them once in real life.

Among her victims were Stapleford councillor Richard McRae, ex-football hooligan and charity worker Barrington Patterson - known as 'one-eyed Baz' - and his wife Tracey.

The former Eastenders star was also named in court as one of the people Dawn targeted and subjected to a barrage of abuse before she was finally arrested.

Tracey Patterson actually began receiving abusive messages from Dawn after defending Ms Westbrook on social media, having seen some of the posts aimed towards her by the online troll, the court heard.

The actress referred to some racist and threatening messages sent to Ms Patterson and expressed her gratitude that Dawn has been punished for her crimes.

She tweeted after the sentencing: "Just some of the hate Tracey and I received, six years of hate and daily trolling.

"Now finally Tasha the troll is behind bars for three years … #trollers."

As well as jail time, Dawn was also given a restraining order, banning her from contacting or referring to a number of people on social media, including Daniella Westbrook, which will go on indefinitely.

She is also allowed no more than one account at any given time.
