Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is still largely shrouded in mystery, but director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that an enhanced and expanded version of Queen's Blood, the fan-favorite card game introduced in Rebirth, will be a big feature in the upcoming JRPG.
"Queen’s Blood is a very popular and beloved minigame, and I believe a lot of people are still wanting something like that," Hamaguchi told Polygon. "I want to expand on Queen’s Blood so that we are enhancing it, and giving you a more powered-up version of it when you see that third installment… Queen’s Blood is still going to be available in the third installment. We just want to expand on it."
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is already a massive time sink, and I'm typically hesitant to spend additional time playing largely non-story-related minigames, but damn it, Queen's Blood is just so satisfying once it clicks, and it has a whole dedicated side quest that's also very worthwhile. It's for that reason that I'm both excited and concerned about time management hearing that Part 3 is getting an even bigger version of Queen's Blood.
Moreover, the threequel is also adding the snowboarding minigame from the original Final Fantasy 7, but it sounds like it'll be more integral to the story, which is a somewhat puzzling idea to ponder.
"Snowboarding! This is something that fans have really deep memories about!" said Hamaguchi. "I'm afraid I can’t delve too much into the details, but we understand that it’s not going to be just a simple snowboarding minigame. We want to make sure that it’s incorporated into the story to have that sort of connection with the theming of it."
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 doesn't have an official release window yet. Hamaguchi told Polygon it's currently in a "playable" state but still needs "polish," which suggests it's further along in development than you might've assumed considering Rebirth just came out less than two years ago.
