Fikayo Tomori gets England boost after latest Liverpool injury news

Despite this being his second call-up to the England squad, Chelsea's Fikayo Tomori is still eligible for three different nations.

Having yet to make his Three Lions debut, the centre-back can still qualify to play for Canada and Nigeria as well.

However, that could all change this week when Gareth Southgate's side take on Kosovo on Sunday afternoon after a boost to Tomori's chances of playing.

England guaranteed their place in Euro 2020 with a 7-0 hammering of Montenegro on Thursday at Wembley, England's 1000th international.

While John Stones and Harry Maguire started at centre-back, Southgate would likely change that up for the game in Pristina.

Tyrone Mings is one player who is likely to get a chance, while Joe Gomez was another who was likely to get the nod.

However, England announced this morning that the latter has returned to Liverpool after not recovering from knock he took to his knee.

It means that Tomori is in a prime position to make his first England appearance, which would then tie him down to the Three Lions for the rest of his career.

Tomori has become a key member of Chelsea's team over the course of the season, moving from a back-up role to starting defender and forming a decent partnership with Kurt Zouma.

The Blues are still waiting for Antonio Rudiger to return from a groin problem, while Andreas Christensen has struggled to get his place back in the team.

But Tomori could be the latest Chelsea player to get his chance with the Three Lions, with Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi all in the squad as well.
