FIFA representatives set to meet FAI and Sport Ireland officials next week

Representatives from the world football governing body FIFA will meet the FAI to discuss governance at the organisation next week.

FIFA's two-person delegation will arrive on Wednesday to meet with the full board of the association, as well as officials from Sport Ireland.

It comes after European governing body UEFA sent a delegation to Dublin last Tuesday, where they supported the establishment of a Governance Review Board by both the FAI and Sport Ireland.

In a statement, FAI President Donal Conway said: "We welcome this visit from our colleagues in FIFA as we continue our programme for governance change at the FAI.

"We visited UEFA at their Nyon headquarters last week when they told us they remain fully committed to and supportive of our review processes.

"UEFA and the FAI are exploring all areas in which UEFA can assist the FAI and will continue to work in partnership for the betterment of Irish football.

"FIFA are also key stakeholders in Irish football. Their support and assistance at this time is most welcome."
