Ferry Road crash: 'Carnage' after car reportedly overturns in smash

Motorists are being warned to avoid Ferry Road this afternoon following a crash earlier today.

It is understood a crash took place at around 11am this morning which saw the road closed for two hours.

One eye witness told Edinburgh Live that Ferry Road was blocked in both directions at Warriston Road.

They said it "looked like one vehicle hit and then another carried on up road", adding that police and ambulances were at the scene.

Meanwhile, another driver reported on social media that it is "carnage on Ferry Road" with "one car on its side, a police car smashed and one car into a wall".

"Avoid Ferry Road if possible folks. Crash closure at Holy Cross School", said another at 1pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.55am on Saturday, 20 June, we received reports of a one-vehicle crash on Ferry Road, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended, there does not appear to have been any injuries.

“The road remained closed for around two hours to allow for uplift of the vehicle and reopened at 1pm.”
