Fernando Henrique Celtic transfer 'likely' as Gremio open the door for January exit

In-demand Fernando Henrique is "likely" to move to Celtic in January, according to reports in Brazil.

Ange Postecoglou is looking to add to his ranks in January as the Parkhead overhaul continues after a hectic summer of transfer business.

The 20-year-old is a Brazilian youth international now appears to be on the Australian's wishlist as they look to challenge Rangers for the title.

The defensive midfielder has been used sparingly by Gremio in their battle to avoid relegation from Serie A.

He appeared to be on the cusp of a breakthrough campaign this term after a run of games in the summer, but has not appeared since September 15.

Now according to Globo, Celtic are leading the race for his signature after the Brazilian top flight campaign is concluded.

They claim that the Scottish Premiership is the "most likely" destination for Henrique once the season is concluded in early December.

They note that "other clubs have also made contact" with Gremio over his availability, including top flight rivals Bragantino and Athletico.

The outlet note that Arab side Al Ain made an approach in the summer and had a bid of £3.6million knocked back, but go on to say boss Vagner Mancini does not plan on offering any first-team chances to the talent.
