Fern Britton shows off five-stone weight loss on cycle trip after revealing secret to new look

Fern Britton showed off her five-stone weight loss during a cycling holiday in Italy.

The presenter, 68, has been open about her weight struggles in the past, having ranged from a size 12 to a size 22 over the years.

Over the summer, Britton showcased her slimmer frame and insisted she shed the pounds “naturally” and without the celeb-favourite drug, Ozempic.

On Tuesday, she displayed her trim figure in a pair of tight black cycling shorts and a matching top in photos from her recent trip abroad with friends.

The Celebrity Big Brother star rocked the slim-fitting gear while posing with her pals during various cycling stop-offs around the Italian countryside.

“A glorious week in Italy with the Bike Buddies! Friendships spanning 20 years. Love you ladies,” she captioned the Instagram post.

Back in June, the TV host revealed she dropped the weight by cutting out sugar from her diet, doing gym classes and running.

“People often wonder when you've lost lots of weight whether you've done it naturally. And I can look at you and say, ‘Yes, I have,’” she told Woman&Home magazine.

She decided to take back control of her health after having shoulder surgery.

“I had my shoulder replacement 18 months ago, and two-and-a-half years ago, when I saw the surgeon, he said, ‘I'm going to totally replace your shoulder, I'll see you in a year,’” she recalled.

“I thought, ‘I need to get my life back on track. I need to stop smoking, stop drinking, get eating under control and stop lying in bed feeling sorry for myself.’

“So I started the Couch to 5k, took about 80 per cent of the sugar out of my life and started to think about what I was eating, which I had never done before.”

The former This Morning star has four children - twin sons Harry and Jack, 31, and daughter Grace, 27, from her first marriage, to Clive Jones, and daughter Winnie, 23, with second husband Phil Vickery, 64,.

Britton and TV chef Vickery split in 2020 after 20 years together.

“After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways,” their statement read.

“We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children.”

Their marriage came to an end after the deaths of Britton’s parents, which reportedly caused the pair to realise they needed to “follow their own paths”.
