AHMEDABAD: The Ahmedabad Zone Fee Regulatory Committee has fixed three days for private schools to submit either their affidavits or proposals for fees for the next academic year, which begins in June.
The state government has placed a fee cap of Rs 15,000 for primary classes, Rs 25,000 for secondary classes and Rs 30,000 for the higher secondary sections of self-financed schools.
If a school charges less than these amounts, they are required to tender the affidavits and inform the committee. Schools, which intend to charge higher amounts, have to submit proposals with justification for higher fees.
By issuing a circular, the district education officer, Ahmedabad city, has instructed all self-financed schools to submit their affidavits and proposals for the new academic year between May 8 and 10.
The submissions will be made at the shala vikas sankuls.
To justify higher fee standards, the school managements will have to place their audited accounts and details of income and expenditure including salaries of teaching and non-teaching staff. The DEO has clarified that the schools would be held responsible for any default in submission of affidavits or proposals during the aforementioned period.
Sources said that most school managements are seeking a 30-40% hike in fees citing 25% fee cut during 2020-21 and a nominal rise permitted in 2021-22 on account of the pandemic.
