FedEx Field named one of the NFL’s best stadiums for tailgating

When you mention FedEx Field to anyone, you will not likely hear many positive remarks. Whether it is Washington fans, opposing fans, players, or coaches, FedEx Field is often named the worst NFL stadium, and it’s never particularly close.

But apparently, at least one positive thing happens at FedEx Field.

According to Betway, FedEx Field was recently named the fourth-best NFL stadium for tailgating.

How did Betway arrive at this, you might ask?

The following nine factors were used in determining the top NFL stadiums for tailgating:

Hours open before event – the number of hours the stadium parking is open before the game starts.

Parking ticket price – the price in USD a parking ticket cost in the 2021 season.

Charcoal price – the price in USD of a branded 12-pound bag of charcoal at Walmart, to use for grilling burgers and hotdogs.

Burger price – the price in USD of a branded pack of 12 burger patties at Walmart.

Hotdog price – the price in USD of a branded pack of 14 sausages at Walmart.

Burger bun price – the price in USD of a branded pack of eight burger buns at Walmart.

Hotdog bun price – the price in USD of a branded pack of eight hotdog buns at Walmart.

Soft drink six-pack – the price in USD of a six-pack of 9oz Coca Cola bottles at Walmart.

Alcohol six-pack – the price in USD of a six-pack of 12oz Bud Light beers at Walmart.

Trust us; this is no credit to the Washington organization. The Commanders charge an average of $8.73 per alcoholic beverage and a ridiculous $60 for parking, per Betway’s research at the time of this poll. Instead, it’s the fans who make the most of a bad situation. Washington fans come prepared in dealing with some of the high prices inside the stadium.

This is just another one of the problems facing new ownership. Sure, it may not be high on the list, but if you want more of your own fans to fill up the stadium, then it’s time to make it affordable, especially to those with families. In fairness to the organization, they’ve made some positive changes over the last two years.

But Washington fans deserve some credit here, too.
