Fearne Cotton says she 'felt alone at work' after struggling with her mental health

Fearne Cotton fans crashed the website for her new festival after the presenter appeared on This Morning to talk about why she is launching a mental health festival. Fearne Cotton shared that she felt 'alone at work' after struggling with her own mental health.

The presenter is known as one of the happiest women in showbiz and has recently launched a podcast where she shares her happiness secrets. She says that speaking with others about mental health has given her tips and tricks that have really helped her.

However, she revealed that she struggled with her mental health while working and felt she couldn't say anything to her bosses at that time. She spoke as she was asked if she developed her book out of spotting a gap in the market for mental health advice.

"I didn't foresee a gap in the market but it was more out of my own personal need to do it. I needed to do something about my own mental health and support that," she said.

"At the time when I felt low, I didn't feel I could say anything at work. I think this is a huge problem for many in the workplace. You feel like you can't speak to your boss, line manager or colleagues. I certainly felt very alone in that aspect and it propelled much of my work in talking to celebrities or experts who are knowledgeable about mental health for tips."

The work that Fearne referred to is her book, Happy which she wrote five years ago. She has since developed this into a festival and podcast.

"I wrote a book called Happy about five years ago," she shared. "It was my first go at being honest around my experiences and that has snowballed into the podcast which we have done for about four years now. All of these branches have sprung off from that such as the festival and a book."

She added: "I feel very lucky to have a part two to my career and I'm very privileged to be doing it."

Fans crashed the website looking for tickets to the festival which will be held on August 6 and 7 at Chiswick House. Some viewers tweeted their frustration at being unable to get tickets after her appearance on the show.

One person tweeted: "Beautiful as ever and Happy as ever @Fearnecotton looks like (thumbs up emoji) the #happyplaceofficial Website has crashed after mentioning it. Sounds such a fab day Will have to look at coming myself live you’re podcasts and you’re audiobook always the best tonic."

Another wrote: ""Well I would of booked tickets to the Happy Place festival in September but no point as ALL classes and sessions showing as sold out so what’s the point in promoting it on This Morning just now."
