AMRITSAR: A young man was shot dead in Amritsar on Friday late at night. The victim has been identified as Ram Saran, a resident of Jandiala Guru.
The victim's three-year-old daughter was also present at the time of the incident and she sustained injuries.
Ram Saran's wife, Mani, told that on Friday night her husband had gone to his brother's house in Ward Number 7 with his daughter. As soon as they got out of the car, four unidentified men on two motorcycles came up to them with pistols and opened fire on Ram Saran.
According to Mani, Ram Saran immediately laid his daughter down on the floor of the car to protect her.
"Otherwise, she would have met the same fate but she got some injuries," she said.
The sound of gunfire alerted the neighbors, who came out to see what was happening following which they fled the scene after the shooting.
Ram Saran was taken to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. Police have registered a case of murder and Arms Act against the 4 unidentified men. Police say that the murder may have been the result of a long-standing feud which is however a part of investigations.
