Drag races in Forza Horizon 6 are some of the most addictive and fun. They’re very straightforward, end fast, and don’t require as much actual skill as something like maintaining a perfect drift (we have a selection of perfect drift cars for you, nevertheless!), so you can just keep repeating them over and over again, shaving those milliseconds from your time with each run.
Below are four standout drag racing cars in Forza Horizon 6, along with the best drag upgrades to have.
Nissan GT-R Black Edition Forza Edition
The 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition Forza Edition is the best overall drag car in Forza Horizon 6. The GT-R platform is already good for drag racing because it has naturally good launch and acceleration, but Forza Edition adds raw power to it, reaching more than 2,000 bhp with certain engine swaps.
The car is super fast and also stable and consistent. Great launch, great acceleration, incredible top speed. Traction control and automatic gear shifts can lose GT-R FE time, so ideally, do all this manually. If you’re not used to it, automatic works, too.
How to get it: The 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition Forza Edition is available through Wheelspin rewards. The regular 2012 GT-R Black Edition is easier to get through the Autoshow and Wheelspins, but the FE version is the one you want for the drag builds. Currently, getting the car unfortunately mostly depends on your luck.
Mazda MX-5 Miata Forza Edition
The 1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata Forza Edition is the funniest serious drag car in the game. It is tiny, light, and has a monster engine sticking out of the hood. It’s phenomenal in the shorter races as its launch and acceleration times are completely unreasonable, but longer strips are fine as well with proper tuning.
It’s not as stable and reliable as GT-R FE, always trying to wiggle its tail and spin rear wheels, but it is still one of the best drag cars because Forza hugely rewards absurd power-to-weight ratios. It erases anything heavier that tries to compete with it.
How to get it: The car has a chance to appear at the used car sales point at the “Festival Kilometer” drag strip. It’s not a guaranteed spawn, and you should purchase the cars that sit there to increase the chances of it appearing. The car costs 450,000 Credits.
Koenigsegg Jesko
The Koenigsegg Jesko is the definitive hypercar option for drag races. It has extreme top-end potential and becomes especially strong on longer drag strips where sustained speed matters more than launch and acceleration.
Jesko is not funny or ridiculous, and somewhat boring due to how mundane of a pick it is. Use it when the race distance gives you enough room to take advantage of its speed, otherwise it’s better to stick with Miata or GT-R if you’re lucky.
How to get it: The Koenigsegg Jesko is available from the Autoshow and Wheelspins, making it much easier to get than some of the Forza Edition drag cars. Buy it directly when you have enough Credits or wait for Wheelspin to shine some luck on you.
Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Forza Edition
The 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Forza Edition is the alternate option that’s already in your garage if you have the VIP Membership as a part of the Premium Edition or a separate purchase.
Its weight means it will not feel as fast as some other options, but when upgraded to the X 999 PI, it can absolutely fly through both short and long drag strips.
How to get it: The 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Forza Edition is available in your garage, but it requires the VIP DLC. The regular 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is available through the Autoshow and Wheelspins, but it does not reach the speeds of the Forza Edition.
Best drag upgrades in Forza Horizon 6
Drag builds are not limited to the most optimal and fastest cars. In fact, the most fun could be had by racing completely ridiculous options on the drag strip, like the Reliant Supervan III, the three-wheeled British abomination.
For most drag builds, focus on drag tires, all-wheel drive if the car struggles with the launches, power upgrades, weight reduction, transmission upgrades, and careful gear tuning. Tires, weight and as much power as possible are the most important factors.
- Swap in the most powerful engine available, you need sheer torque and power.
- Swap the tires to the Drag option, they provide the most grip.
- Reduce the weight of the car with the best option.
- Put in the 4-speed Drift gearbox, as short gearing helps with launch and acceleration.
- Set the rear tires as widely as possible while making the front narrow.
- In the tuning tab, decrease the pressure of the rear tires so they have more surface area to grip with during the launch.
- Set your gear shifts to either top speed or acceleration, depending on the drag strip you’re racing on.
Best drag car overall
The 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition Forza Edition is the best overall drag car in Forza Horizon 6. It has the strongest mix of launch, grip, stability, and raw performance. But we still urge you to experiment with anything you’d fancy to fly through Forza Horizon 6’s various drag strips.
