Fast and Furious 9 filming to arrive on seven new Edinburgh streets this weekend

Fast and Furious 9 filming will arrive in seven new Edinburgh locations this weekend.

Additional roads will close to traffic in the city centre as crews continue working on the movie blockbuster, which is due for release next year.

Throughout this week Waterloo Place and Calton Road have been closed off, with scenes being shot and stunts taking place on both routes.

However in the coming days West College Street, South College Street, West Parliament Square, Parliament Square, St Giles Street, High Street and Lawnmarket will all be off-limits as the shoot expands across the city centre.

The road closure on Calton Road will also shift to the stretch between the entrance to the Waverley Gate car park to New Street from this morning. Measures on West College Street and South College Street were also introduced today (Friday).

From Saturday West Parliament Square, Parliament Square and St Giles Street will be closed in their entirety. They are due to reopen on Wednesday night.

On Sunday Royal Mile closures will be in place with High Street shutting from Lawnmarket to Cockburn Street while Lawnmarket will close from George IV Bridge to High Street. Those measures will remain until 10pm on Tuesday.

Filming for the movie is expected to be in the city for four weeks.

Edinburgh Live reported on Thursday that yet more stomach-churning stunt footage emerged as film crews continued to shoot scenes for the movie.

Two daredevils could be seen plunging from Regent Bridge down towards Calton Road in full view of the watching public. .

And on Wednesday footage emerged of a stunt actor jumping from a window on Waterloo Place near North Bridge.
