Chicago could be headed for a “polar coaster” this winter, according to winter weather predictions from the Farmers’ Almanac.
“Our extended forecast is calling for yet another freezing, frigid, and frosty winter for two-thirds of the country,” Peter Geiger, editor of the almanac, said in a post on the website.
The worst of that weather is forecasted to rock the northern Plains into the Great Lakes. Other areas, like the Northeast, will also experience colder than normal temperatures for much of the winter, according to the forecast. The final week of January through the beginning of February could see the coldest outbreak of the 2019-2020 winter season.
The Almanac is predicting the worst of the up-and-down, “bitterly cold winter conditions” will likely affect areas east of the Rocky Mountains all the way to the Appalachians, according to the Almanac’s extended forecast post.
