Farage U-turns again on deporting female asylum seekers

  • Nigel Farage has confirmed that Reform UK would deport female asylum seekers back to the Taliban in Afghanistan if his party wins the next election.
  • It comes after confusion over his position on the issue, after he initially said he would deport women back to Afghanistan, before later saying he wouldn’t.
  • Mr Farage clarified on Saturday that all adults, both men and women, who cross the English Channel illegally would be detained and deported, but children would require further consideration.
  • He reiterated Reform UK's promise to "stop the boats" and deport foreign criminals, initially claiming this would occur within two weeks of winning government.
  • Mr Farage later clarified that the "two weeks" timeline refers to the passing of their proposed legislation, which includes quitting the European Convention on Human Rights, a process expected to take over a year.
