Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the prestigious FAO Agricola Medal by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in recognition of his contribution to sustainable agriculture, food security and rural development.
The honour was presented during Modi’s visit to Rome, where he held bilateral talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and participated in a series of diplomatic engagements.
The FAO Agricola Medal is among the organisation’s highest recognitions and is awarded to global leaders for their efforts in advancing agricultural transformation and improving food systems.
Responding to the honour, Modi said the award reflected India’s commitment towards strengthening agriculture and ensuring food security.
