Fantasy Football Consistency Rankings: Wide receivers

This ranking considers wide receivers that started at least 10 games in 2024. Fantasy points were derived using one point per 10 yards rushed or received, six-point touchdowns and one point receptions. The consistency in scoring at least 15 fantasy points per game declined rapidly.

Running backs took center stage last year, other than Ja’Marr Chase‘s monster stats. While it may have seemed the position was no better, or even worse, than last year, that is not true. In 2023, 13 players had more than 50% of their games with 15-plus points, but last season there were 16 and there were 10 with more than 60% compared to just five from the previous year.

It is encouraging to see the rookie Brian Thomas Jr., Ladd McConkey and Malik Nabers crest 50% in their first seasons. Terry McLaurin‘s career has taken a step up, maybe two steps with his new quarterback. Even Marvin Harrison Jr. almost made it to 50%, though he was an odd study in big games coupled with dud efforts.

One of the most notable changes from 2023 to 2024 was that there were nine receivers with at least four games of 25-plus points. Yet, last year Ja’Marr Chase was the only wideout with more than three. We went from a monster season for big games for wideouts – and the subsequent overdrafting of them the next summer – to elite players producing only two or three at most.

Five-catch performances also declined with 18 players logging at least 10 games of five catches to 15 back in 2023. This last season, only Puka Nacua and Ja’Marr Chase had more than five 100-yard performances compared to 15 receivers in 2023. Defenses caught up to the passing game and did it in a hurry with dramatic declines in just one season.

Within that decline, there were still pleasant surprises, at least relatively speaking. Rookie wideouts fared better than usual and absolutely helped Terry McLaurin. Even the addition of a new quarterback, albeit not a rookie, didn’t hurt the Minnesota receivers.
