This ranking considers tight ends that started at least 10 games in 2024. Fantasy points were derived using one point per 10 yards rushed or received, six-point touchdowns rushed, and one-point receptions. Given that the position supplies around only 10 players of any fantasy note, there aren’t a lot of surprises here.

Tight End Consistency
Using 10 fantasy points as the mark to match is low considering the other fantasy positions — like four catches for 60 yards or just two catches for 20 yards and one touchdown — Trey McBride, George Kittle, Brock Bowers, and Jonnu Smith were the top tight ends. Bowers and Smith were surprises, while Sam LaPorta, T.J. Hockenson, Travis Kelce and David Njoku were disappointments.
Those top four tight ends offered an advantage for the position, but it was a year of transition for tight ends who were highly productive and those who fell back. Already marginally advantageous compared to wide receivers, the position isn’t even a lock for the top player anymore.
George Kittle topped the number of 20-point games for the last two seasons, doing at least marginally better at staying healthy, but Jonnu Smith had his magical, career season at the age of 29 – a rarity. Brock Bowers shows well in all of the metrics, sort of like Sam LaPorta in 2023 (but not this year).
The fact that there has been significant transitions from bad to good or from good to bad only makes the position riskier. Outside of Kittle, Bowers, and McBride, the rest of the tight ends are likely to fall deeper in drafts this season.
