This ranking considers running backs that started at least 10 games in 2024. Fantasy points were derived using one point per 10 yards rushed or received, six-point touchdowns rushed and one point receptions. Running backs may be devalued in fantasy and the NFL, but they are still likely the most consistent players on your team.
Fantasy Football Consistency Rankings

This is why running backs are going to be more expensive this season. In 2023, there were only nine running backs with more than 50% of their games with 15-plus fantasy points. In 2024, it leaped up to 16. That’s plenty for everyone to own a consistent back, if not two.
It was surprising to see Saquon Barkley with only 63% consistency, but realize he laid down seven monster performances, much like Derrick Henry. Jahmyr Gibbs and Bijan Robinson took the top two spots but only managed 47% in 2023. Alvin Kamara will slow down, but he’s been a lock for a high showing in this metric, placing No. 3 in both of the last two seasons.
Christian McCaffrey had the crash and burn in 2024, but running backs were more productive and consistent overall last year. And consistently high production is what gets you to the league championship.
There were only four running backs with more than nine games scoring a touchdown in 2023, a number that doubled last season. There were 13 running backs that totaled 10 or more touchdowns. We are re-entering the age of running backs. Committee backfields are still prevalent, but at least the bulk of scoring ends up with just one running back on most teams.
The 25-point performances are weekly winners. Henry, Barkley, Gibbs, and Robinson are very likely to be the first four running backs taken in fantasy drafts, because they are clear difference makers.
