Malcolm Turnbull in arts, Christopher Pyne in defence, and Michaelia Cash in immigration and border protection. And, presumably because he’s out of the top job, Tony Abbott for employment.
That’s how most readers chose when submitting their fantasy federal cabinet.
Overall, based on the most popular choice in each ministry, the reader’s cabinet was 47.6% similar to the one Turnbull announced on Sunday. Here’s the consensus cabinet, and here’s how it compares to Abbott and Turnbull’s cabinets:
The percentage similarity to Abbott’s cabinet was also 47.6%, due to readers choosing to keep certain ministers on in their previous roles, such as Mathias Cormann, George Brandis, Julie Bishop and Barnaby Joyce.
Joe Hockey would be moved to defence, with the largest proportion of readers agreeing with Turnbull’s choice of Scott Morrison for treasurer.
John Alexander and Ken Wyatt would be promoted to the cabinet, into sport and Indigenous affairs respectively.
Readers agreed with Turnbull’s promotion of Marise Payne, Michaelia Cash and Kelly O’Dwyer, but not the choice of ministries.
