Fans baffled as Munster hurling final broadcast in Irish on RTE for Sky customers

Fans were upset that RTE's coverage of the Munster Hurling Final between Limerick and Clare was broadcast in Irish.

While those watching RTE on regular terrestrial TV had Marty Morrissey in the hotseat, but Sky customers found themselves listening to Irish commentary of the game.

Some fans didn't mind, however, there were plenty that were not happy that they had to listen to Irish commentary of the clash at the Gaelic Grounds instead of English.

"Waiting for RTÉ to notice that the Gaeilge coverage is on RTÉ 2...sssh don't tell them," said Emmet Ryan on Twitter before following up with, "Sooooo I think @rte genuinely haven't noticed that those of us who get our telly from Sky have the Gaeilge commentary on RTÉ 2. I'm not complaining but it is amusing that nobody's copped."

"#munsterfinal why isn't the match on TG4 if RTE wanted us to listen to the commentary in Irish?" said Patrick.

"RTE commentary is in Irish why's that?" said Darren.

While Len said, "@RTEsport why is the commentary in Irish ????"

"Why is the game commentary in Irish on rte2 it’s always in English?" said another Twitter user.

While another said, "@RTEsport explain why the commentary of the Munster Final is in Irish ???

For terrestrial viewers, RTE 2 had the game in English with Marty Morrissey, with Irish commentary being available on the RTE News channel, so that appears to be where the mix-up came from.
