
A television chef was arrested in London last month on suspicion of rape and sexual assault, according to reports. The man, who has appeared on multiple TV shows, was taken in for questioning at a central London police station before being released on bail.
Scotland Yard confirmed the arrest took place on April 11. Officers detained the man on suspicion of rape, sexual assault and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent. He was questioned for several hours and later released on bail while the investigation continues.
The alleged offences are said to have taken place at an address in London in January. The Telegraph first reported the story, noting that the suspect has featured on a number of television programmes. The victim is understood to have approached police last month after the alleged incident.
A Scotland Yard spokesperson said: "A man was arrested on suspicion of rape, sexual assault and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent on Saturday, April 11. This relates to sexual offences which reportedly occurred at an address in January. A female victim is being supported by specially trained officers. The man has been released on bail as enquiries continue."
The woman is currently receiving support from specially trained officers as the investigation moves forward. No charges have been brought at this stage and the man has not been named publicly.
