Famous faces set to walk red carpet at this year's Glasgow Film Festival

A HOST of famous faces are set to grace Glasgow Film Festival’s (GFF) red carpet this year as it returns for its 19th edition.

Line Of Duty star Kelly Macdonald and Braveheart’s James Cosmo will be among the names at this year’s festival.

Two-time Oscar-nominee Emily Watson, who has appeared in the likes of War Horse, will also be appearing for the UK premiere of new drama God’s Creatures.

The festival’s co-director Allison Gardner said: “GFF are thrilled to welcome a range of homegrown and international talent to this year’s festival."

“From familiar faces like Kelly Macdonald and Emily Watson to debut Scottish directors Adura Onashile and Andrew Cumming, alongside filmmakers from the US, Canada, France, Germany and more.”

Star impressionist Alistair McGowan will also appear at the UK premiere of My Name Is Alfred Hitchcock to perform a 'pitch-perfect' impression of the famous director.

This year marks the first time a Scottish film has opened the GFF with Glasgow writer-director Adura Onashile set to launch her feature debut, Girl.

Joe Thomas, star of popular sitcom The Inbetweeners, will also be attending to help launch the fourth edition of the Isle of Skye-based Young Film Foundation which aims to identify and support a new generation of talent.

National columnist Stuart Cosgrove and US director Muta’Ali Muhammad will appear at the world premiere of their new documentary Cassius X: Becoming Ali.

Overall, the festival will play host to over 250 screenings, including 22 world premieres and 70 UK premieres.

Gardner believes the programme represents a “fabulous testament to the power of cinema”.

GFF will take place from March 1-12.
