Family's takeaway night ruined after finding plastic in KFC chicken

A Nottingham dad has said he was disgusted after finding plastic in his chicken from KFC.

Alan Bailey, 53, of Mapperley decided to go to the chicken restaurant in Woodborough Road and pick up dinner for his family on Thursday evening (September 19).

When he got home they all tucked into their food but Mr Bailey noticed something wasn't quite right.

He said he had eaten a bit of plastic in his first bite.

The dad was left disgusted at finding the plastic in his food and immediately contacted customer services.

He said: "I put the first bit of chicken in my mouth and there was a whopping great bit of plastic in there.

"I was shocked by it. It was like a plastic bag that I assumed the chicken had been put in but it was deep fried and disgusting.

"I just couldn't stop thinking. What if a child had been given that piece of chicken. They could have choked."

Mr Bailey, a salesman, went straight to the customer service team at KFC and was promptly offered a £25 meal voucher for his next trip to the restaurant.

However, he said he wasn't bothered about compensation.

He said: "I don't want compensating, I want to know what quality control measures they are going to put in place so that this doesn't happen again.

"I don't really want the vouchers either to be honest, it is not like I will be going back now.

"Once I had found the plastic, no-one wanted to finish their meals so it was £35 wasted."

A KFC spokesperson said: “Looks like a piece of plastic got a little too attached to our chicken. It’s not great and we’re looking into what might have happened.

"We’re sorry Alan, one of our team will be in touch to make it up to you.”
