A popular family-run chip shop in Prescot has reopened after being closed for more than six months after it was ploughed into by a car .
The Big Chippy on Warrington Road has been in the same family since it first opened in 1969.
Earlier this year, the venue suffered extensive damage to its front after being hit by a white Ford Focus ST that subsequently drove away from the scene.
Now, owner Demetri Christophorou, 27 of Ormskirk, is excited that his family business is finally back in action.
He told the ECHO : "It's been a part of my whole life, I didn't mess around and got stuck into the family business when I was a teenager, so I'm very excited and happy we're open again.
"It was really sad when we had to close, to be honest - The Big Chippy is a big part of the community.
"Everyone was disappointed and really wanted to get it back open.
"Our customers are lovely - it's only onwards and upwards from here."
Demetri is running the chip shop with his younger brother Andreas, 25, and the brothers hope their business will be in the area for years to come.
Demetri added: "It's been a hard few months, we've had a death in the family on top of dealing with the damage, too.
"I really like Prescot and hope to stay here for a number of years."
