Family of Edinburgh man pulled from Water of Leith informed as body identified

The family of an Edinburgh man have been informed after a body was pulled from the Water of Leith yesterday.

Police have confirmed that the body belonged to a 57-year-old man.

Emergency services had raced to the scene near Coupar Street in Leith at around 7.55am on Saturday (April 10), after the reports had been made to the authorities.

Police, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and paramedics were all in attendance with enquiries now ongoing into the sudden death.

Officers say the man’s family have now been informed and an investigation into the circumstances remains ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.55am on Saturday, 10 April, 2021, we received a report of the body of a man in the Water of Leith near Couper Street in Edinburgh.

“The body of a 57-year-old man was recovered from the water and his next of kin have been informed.

"Inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing and as with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
