Family left 'heartbroken' as young Irishman killed in crash named locally

Tributes have been pouring in after the death of a young Irishman in a horror car crash.

Keith O'Hanlon from Kildalkey in Co Meath died in a collision on the M3 motorway.

The tragic incident happened at around 4.40pm on Monday at Clowanstown, Dunshaughlin.

Mr O'Hanlon, who is in his 30s, was killed when the car he was driving collided with another. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman aged in her 40s who was driving the other car, was taken to hospital with what were said to be non-life-threatening injuries.

And tributes have been pouring in for the popular Meath man, who was hailed as a "gentleman".

One mourner wrote: "We are so very sad to hear of the loss of your beautiful son. A life taken too young. May you find comfort in his memories. Mind yourselves."

While another added: "Our hearts go out to you at this very sad time for the family. You will be in our prayers. Keith will be missed by all who knew him."

While Mr O'Hanlon's "heartbroken" family have now confirmed that he will be laid to rest in a private service on Saturday.

A post on RIP.ie reads: "Keith will be sadly missed by his heartbroken family, partner Sarah, parents Mark and Bernie, Craig, Amy and Lauren and their partners, his godmother Mary, the Mooney family, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, extended family and many friends.

"May Keith Rest in Peace.

"Due to Government advice regarding public gatherings, a private service will take place on Saturday morning at 11am, followed by burial in Saint Dympna's Cemetery, Kildalkey."

A garda spokesman added: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving two cars that occurred on the M3 at Clowanstown, Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath between J6 - J7 on 24/05/2021 at approximately 4.40pm.

"Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information, particularly road users who may have dash cam footage, to contact Gardaí in Ashbourne on 01 801 0600 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
