Family devastated after kind and caring granddad dies following car crash

A "kind and caring" pensioner who died after being hit by a car in Bridgend has been named.

Kenneth Rees was seriously hurt following the collision with a white Mercedes E250 Estate in Litchard Hill, Litchard, at about 8am on Monday.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene, but was later pronounced dead.

Mr Rees' family described the 87-year-old, who lived in Bridgend, as a "devoted husband, father and grandfather".

In a statement, issued via police, they added: "Ken Rees was a kind, caring family man.

“A retired steel worker who originated from the Llynfi Valley, he spent the last 40 years in Bridgend."

The incident closed the road near its junction with Bryn Llidiard for a number of hours.

South Wales Police said it was continuing to appeal for witnesses.

 Anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the crash or may have dash-cam or CCTV footage is asked to contact the force via the 101 phone number quoting reference number 1900180400.
