Streep highlighted the jacket as a "powerful message" sent by Melania Trump when visiting migrant children in 2018.
The jacket caused a social media storm in June 2018, as it was worn during a visit to a children's center amid heightened U.S.-Mexico border tensions and family separations.
Melania Trump later stated the jacket's slogan was aimed at critics and the media, not the children, a point she reiterated in her 2024 memoir.
