Fake Uber driver jailed for teen assault

Faizan Abdullah could be deported after being jailed for 15 months for sexually assaulting a teen. (AAP)

A fake rideshare driver who sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl in Melbourne has been jailed for 15 months.

Faizan Abdullah, 29, kept his head down on Thursday morning as magistrate Donna Bakos described his offending as predatory and brazen.

The Pakistani citizen, who now faces deportation, admitted sexually assaulting the teen on February 7 last year after pretending to be her rideshare driver.

The 29-year-old could be released from custody as early as Thursday after already serving 475 days in pre-sentence detention.

His lawyers on Wednesday urged Ms Bakos to consider a sentence less than 12 months, allowing him to avoid the prospect of deportation.

Abdullah, who also pleaded guilty to possessing 69 videos and images of child abuse material, will also be added to the sex offenders register for eight years.
