Facebook post sharing euro note brings couple back together

()

It sounds like the beginning of a romcom, but the story of a message scrawled on a euro note being posted on Facebook and reuniting two ex-lovers is very true.

After Denise O’Reilly from Co Meath in Ireland received a €20 note with the message "Christy, it’s always been you! Come and find me, Megan”, she posted it on Facebook with the message "Go get ur girl!!!!! Come on people and share!!!"

Once a picture of the note had been shared, the post went viral with 16,000 users sharing it in a bid to find out the story behind Christy and Megan.

In a twist of fate, Irish radio station Today FM managed to track down Christy to find out the whole story.

Christy emailed the radio station, revealing that Megan was an ex-girlfriend and she'd written the note in a bid to get her back.

“Megan was the name I used to call my ex girlfriend. We went out for a year and a half. The name arose from when I misheard her name and thought she was Megan for our first week of dating. Then it stuck.”

She added: “I'm a musician and while we were going out, I wrote her a song called 'It’s always been you.'”

“After I saw the €20 note on a FB post, I called her. She told me she had written it on a note she used to pay into one of my gigs about 6 months ago. I didn't know she was there. She told me she thought I'd get the cash directly but I obviously didn't. She took it that I didn't want to talk. So, now we're in touch again but the situation is quite different”
