Fabinho hands Liverpool injury worry after limping off against Napoli

Liverpool were dealt an injury blow early on in their Champions League clash with Napoli on Wednesday night as Fabinho limped off midway through the first half.

The Brazilian suffered an apparent ankle injury after colliding with Hirving Lozano following a foul on the Mexican by Dejan Lovren.

After receiving treatment on the pitch, the 26-year-old initially attempted to play on but was in clear discomfort.

And Jurgen Klopp took the decision to withdraw the midfielder in the 20th minute as he headed straight down the tunnel with Gini Wijnaldum coming on in his place.

Fabinho will already miss Liverpool’s next outing as they host Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday through suspension, having picked up a fifth booking of the season in the Reds’ 2-1 win over Crystal Palace last weekend.

Having already seen Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson suffer ankle injuries in recent weeks, Liverpool now face an anxious wait to see if the midfielder will be fit to face Everton in next Wednesday’s Merseyside derby clash with Everton at Anfield.
