FA blindsided by Fifa boss Gianni Infantino’s bid to sell World Cup stake

FA Gianni Infantino Fifa World Cup

Fifa President Gianni Infantino has proposed selling stakes in the World Cup to private investors and establishing a new entity, Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE), to oversee the tournament's commercial rights and delivery.
The private investment group is reportedly spearheaded by a company founded by Joshua Kushner, brother of Jared Kushner, who is the son-in-law of US president Donald Trump.
The English Football Association (FA) expressed significant concern, stating they were completely unaware of the proposal and criticised the lack of proper process and governance leading to this point.
Uefa , the governing body for European football, has voiced strong opposition to the plan and is scheduled to hold an emergency meeting with its 55 member associations this week to discuss the matter, while Concacaf, the governing body for North America , has been left stunned by the proposal.
National member associations have a deadline of 19 September to accept the proposed plans, with the Danish FA also indicating it requires more information before taking a definitive stance.
