'F*****g embarrassment': Sean Longstaff slams Newcastle United's collapse at Leicester

Sean Longstaff has not held back in voicing his anger at Newcastle United's performance in the 5-0 defeat to Leicester City - labelling it a ''f*****g embarrassment.'

The 21-year-old returned to the starting line-up having missed two games with an ankle injury but could do little to stop Leicester running wild over the Magpies .

An early goal from Ricardo - in which the full-back was allowed to drive forward without a challenge - set the tone of the game, and after Isaac Hayden was shown a red card for a high challenge, there was only likely to be one winner.

Goals from Dennis Praet, Wilfred Ndidi, and a brace from Jamie Vardy handed Leicester their biggest ever Premier League victory, and Longstaff was left fuming at his side's efforts.

"It’s embarrassing. It’s f*****g embarrassing. Sorry for swearing, but it is. There’s nothing else to say other than it’s embarrassing.

"As a team, that’s not good enough. You can talk about tactics, the way we were set up or how we didn’t set up.

"We must be much, much better and put it behind us and move on quickly. It’s a massive wake-up call. Hopefully, there’s no more days like that."

The only positive out of the game was the endeavor of the travelling support to continue backing their team despite the horrific scoreline.

The 3,400 Geordie contingent sang their hearts out, and it wasn't lost on Longstaff.

"The away fans travelled again," he told the Mirror . "We should never put them in the position where they’re cheering just for the sake of it.

"It’s a tough one. The first half, we go a goal behind, but we’re still getting into some all right positions. The sending off kills the game, but still, the second half is embarrassing.

"It’s hard for the fans to take. It’s a Sunday night, late game, miles away from home. They were still singing at the end. We can’t thank them enough for what they bring.
