Ezgjan Alioski is handed a blow by the EFL while away on international duty

Ezgjan Alioski’s consolation in Millwall proved to be his second and not his third goal of the season, it seems.

The Macedonia international is currently away with his national team and went away believing he was United’s second highest goalscorer in the Championship this term.

However, EFL’s Dubious Goals Committee has now credited his 38th minute winner over West Bromwich Albion as an own goal.

Replays clearly showed Kyle Bartley got a strong enough touch on Alioski’s drive towards the bottom corner to send it beyond Sam Johnstone.

A committee is called only if the match referee and a club disagree on a goal scorer. When there is a discrepancy, a panel is set up with representatives from across the EFL.

In this case, the Whites and David Coote evidently disagreed.

Alioski has 16 goals in total from his time at Elland Road since arriving in July 2017.
