'Extraordinary' Jadon Sancho would be 'better off' at Liverpool than Manchester United

Jadon Sancho is an 'extraordinary talent' who doesn't suit Manchester United's style of play.

That is according to former Real Madrid, Newcastle and Leeds defender Jonathan Woodgate who feels Sancho would be 'better off' playing for Liverpool.

Sancho finally joined United in a mega-money move in the summer after a lengthy pursuit of his services.

The 21-year-old left Manchester City as a 17-year-old in 2017 to join Borussia Dortmund and he took German football by storm.

Sancho recorded 50 goals and 64 assists in 134 appearances for Dortmund, smashing several Bundesliga records during his four years at the Westfalenstadion.

However, since joining United, he has failed to register a single goal or assist and has found himself largely out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's starting XI.

Sancho recently lost his place in the England squad, while Solskjaer's decision to operate with a 3-5-2 system in recent weeks has also cast doubts over his club future after just four months at Old Trafford.

As such, Woodgate feels Sancho has struggled at United because they 'don't play to his strengths' and he feels if he had joined Liverpool in the summer instead, he would have adapted more successfully to the Premier League.

"Things haven't gone exactly according to plan for Sancho since he signed for Man United this summer," he told Ladbrokes.

"I put it down to the style of play; it doesn't suit him.

"If United replicated Dortmund's approach then it would be a different ball game altogether, but Man United don't play that way; they don't play the sort of football Sancho is used to.

"Jadon Sancho is an extraordinary talent; if you play to his strengths, then he'll come good.

"There's no doubt in my mind that he'll come good again. Put him in the Liverpool team, and he'd be a completely different player, I'm sure."
