Experts warn of two new Omicron symptoms that don't affect the nose or throat

Those who have contracted the Omicron variant are showing two common symptoms that aren't affect the nose or throat.

Through the world's largest covid symptom study, ZOE, new Covid symptoms are being highlighted by users.

Professor Tim Spector from the ZOE covid study app has pointed out some of unusual symptoms to be aware of.

In a YouTube video, the professor said nausea is being reported for many in the beginning stages of covid caused by the Omicron variant.

Speaking about the symptoms people are logging on the ZOE app, he said: "Quite a few of them had nausea, slight temperature, sore throats and headaches."

This was also highlighted by a doctor in India, according to the Express.

Dr Sanket Jain, Pulmonologist Consultant at a hospital in Mumbai, India, said: “One of my patients, just five days back, got admitted with a complaint of loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting".

Dr Jain said: “As per protocol, we conducted RT-PCR, and it came positive.

“Such symptoms are commonly being observed nowadays especially in infections of Omicron”.

Another lesser-known symptom being reported is back pain.

Lower back pain is being identified by experts one of the core symptoms associated with the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

Analysing data from the UK, US and South Africa - where Omicron was first identified - experts believe the early stages of an Omicron infection could see people displaying signs of lower back pain.

Data coming out from South Africa, where the Omicron was first detected, shows that lower back pain could be another symptom.

Dr Ryan Noach, the CEO of South Africa-based Discovery Health, recently said that the most common early sign was a scratchy throat and most of these symptoms are mild.

Alongside lower back pain, muscle aches throughout the body have also been reported.
