Experts split on picking Panthers or Chargers for Week 3 matchup

The Panthers will face the Chargers on the road this weekend and once again the oddsmakers are expecting them to lose by a touchdown. However, there are some experts who think they can pull off an upset.

Here’s a review of this week’s expert picks.

ESPN: Chargers

All eight of the experts at ESPN who have submitted their picks this week are going with the Chargers.

CBS Sports: Panthers

Will Brinson at CBS Sports has Carolina winning in an upset, 31-24.

Sporting News: Chargers

Tadd Haislop at Sporting News is picking LA, 26-20.

MMQB: Chargers

All six of the MMQB’s experts are predicting a Chargers win.

Yahoo Sports: Panthers

Frank Schwab at Yahoo Sports is predicting some rookie mistakes by Justin Herbert and a Panthers win.

USA Today: Chargers

Everyone at USA Today is going with the Chargers.

While losing Christian McCaffrey is a significant blow, we feel like this team is overdue for an all-around surprise performance. One key factor is the presence of offensive line coach Pat Meyer, who held the same position for the Chargers the last three years. If his understanding of LA’s offensive linemen can help get Carolina’s pass rush going and pressure Herbert into committing a couple of turnovers, it will go a long way towards a win.
