Expert's hack for reheating leftover pizza to get 'crispy crust' with no 'soggy dough'

People across the world enjoy a mouth-watering slice pizza every now and again and one of the best bits of tucking into one is having leftovers the following day. Whether you like to have your leftovers hot or cold it can be a real treat when you open the fridge.

However, perfecting the art of reheating is a real art when it comes to pizza, as all-too often foodies end up with a soggy base. Thankfully, one expert has shared their top tips for avoiding a sad slice by revealing how to get those crusts nice and crispy.

The expert at Just Spices shared with The Express: "You should not store the pizza slices at room temperature overnight. Otherwise, the dough will become soggy. Instead, cover it with cling film and put it in the fridge."

"If the pizza was delivered in a box, take it out to store in the fridge. The cardboard will absorb the moisture from the sauce and toppings, and your pizza will soon be a sodden heap of misery!"

And when it comes to heating up the leftovers, the expert was also on hand to tell you the best way to do it.

They said that instead of just placing the slices on a plate and popping them in the microwave, it's best to put another plate over the top to cut off most of the air. This will cook the slices without getting soggy.

You also need to put a glass of water in the microwave alongside the plates, as the resulting steam will stop the dough from getting soggy, instead making nice and crispy.

If you don't have access to a microwave you can try this clever tip with the oven or even a pan. Just make sure to use baking paper and tin foil for a crispy finish.

The expert warned, however, not to reheat food more than once if it contains meat or fish toppings, as this could lead to food poisoning.
