Exhibition preview: Next Up Liverpool

As Liverpool's stint as European Capital of Culture comes to a close, a common complaint has been that locally based artists have been underrepresented. So the Bluecoat - a gallery that has always managed a lively mix of the local, national and international, and now firmly ensconced in its refurbished accommodation - addresses the issue with this selection of recent art from Merseyside studios. Witness Paul Rooney's typical orchestration of melancholy and mischievous delight and some pretty, resonantly layered, semi-abstract landscapes by Pete Clarke. Others to catch sight of: Nina Edge, James Quin and Tabitha Kyoko Moses.
