Ex-USA manager Jurgen Klinsmann’s son suffers horror injury in Italian football match

  • Jonathan Klinsmann, goalkeeper for Italian second-tier side Cesena, sustained a broken neck during a match on Saturday.
  • The 29-year-old was stretchered off the pitch after a collision with a Palermo player and immediately transported to hospital.
  • Initial tests confirmed a "fracture to the first cervical vertebra" alongside a cut to the back of his head, with further examinations scheduled.
  • Klinsmann himself confirmed on Instagram that the injury has prematurely ended his season.
  • He is the son of World Cup winner and former USA manager Jurgen Klinsmann and has made over 50 appearances for Cesena, a team currently managed by Ashley Cole.
