Ex-Thomas Cook worker sells wedding dress on eBay saying 'my life has turned upside down'

A woman who used to work for Thomas Cook has put her wedding dress on eBay as she looks to make ends meet.

The woman says the lives of her and her husband were turned upside down by the collapse of the firm on September 23 and she has put the intricate white gown up for sale for £500 in order to pay her bills. Her husband also worked for the firm.

She has put the dress up for sale at £900 less than she bought it for.

“Brand New Stella York wedding dress size 10. RRP £1400," the dress advert reads.

“Has not been altered, brand-new, never-worn stunning dress. Me and my husband were both made redundant form Thomas Cook and it has turned our world upside down. I am selling this dress to help pay for up and coming bills.

“Collection or can send with a courier, price to be confirmed as would need to know where to send to get a quote. It will be sent recorded with courier so you can track it.”

Thomas Cook passengers stranded in airport in Turkey for 24 hours

Thousands of people lost their jobs when Thomas Cook, Britain's oldest travel agent collapsed, with many thousands more needing to be brought back to the UK from holidays abroad. One couple from Cardiff lost thousands after their flights to Disney World were cancelled.

The collapse has also had a big emotional impact on former employees.

One crew member on board the flight from Larnaca in Cyprus back to Birmingham broke into tears as they spoke to their final load of passengers over the loudspeaker.

"Some of you might be confused why you are travelling on a Thomas Cook-branded aircraft with ex Thomas Cook staff as well," they said.

"Unfortunately all of us lost our jobs on Monday which have just been taken from beneath us. It's very upsetting.

"The cabin grew have been extremely brave in putting their uniforms on, but we just wanted to ensure that we were able to come to work and bring you back with our Thomas Cook crew that took you out.

"I think this is the last time for myself that I will be reading out this demonstration for you."
