St Mirren boss Craig McLeish has confirmed the club’s interest in former Rangers defender Leon King, but admits a move is not currently a priority.
The 22-year-old centre-back is a free agent after leaving Ibrox this summer, following a loan spell at Ayr United last season.
McLeish revealed discussions have taken place, although budget constraints mean the Buddies must address other areas of the squad first. He said, “Leon is one of a number of players we have spoken to. That position isn’t a priority for us.

"Leon knows that, and I have spoken to him about that. Because of our budget constraints, we need to work on our priorities first and see where we are as the squad shapes up.
“There are priorities we need to tackle first.”
In total, King made 42 appearances in all competitions for Rangers during his six years involved in the first team.
As well as his aforementioned spell at Ayr United, he also spent time out on loan at Queen's Park last year.
