Former Rangers striker Cedric Itten helped Switzerland qualify for the World Cup quarter-finals thanks to a vital spot-kick against Colombia.
The Ibrox club already has two players still representing their countries at the tournament, with midfield duo Nico Raskin and Thelo Aasgaard booking their place in the last eight with Belgium and Norway, respectively.
However, they have been joined by 29-year-old Itten, who came on as a second-half substitute for Murat Yakin's side, who played out a 0-0 draw with the South Americans after 120 minutes of action.
With the score 2-2 in the subsequent shootout, following Juan Camilo Hernandez's spot-kick being saved by Gregor Kobel, Itten stepped up and put his side in front, slotting his penalty down the middle.

Despite Luis Diaz scoring a minute later, Ruben Vargas made no mistake, sending Switzerland through via a 4-3 shootout win.
Thanks to this result, Itten and Switzerland will face Argentina in the next round, who sealed their place with an incredible 3-2 comeback win over Egypt earlier on Tuesday. The match will take place at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City this Saturday.
Itten signed for Rangers from St Gallen back in 2020, scoring eight goals in 48 total appearances. He left two years later, joining Swiss side Young Boys in 2022.
