Ex-Manchester United starlet Indy Boonen in Greta Thunberg trolling storm

Former Manchester United starlet Indy Boonen reportedly found himself at the centre of a Twitter storm after a social media attack on climate change activist Greta Thunberg.

The Belgian forward was highly-rated when he joined United in 2015, but failed to break into the senior set-up and moved back to his native country to sign for KV Oostende when he was still aged only 19.

Now 22, he isn't a regular for Oostende, but he has inadvertently raised his profile after his apparent trolling of the Swedish activist.

Thunberg, 18, tweeted an image of US president Donald Trump leaving the White House, with the words: " "He seems like a very happy old man looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!"

According to The Sun. Boonen's reply to the tweet was "Go to school little girl!!!"

The reply prompted a big backlash from her followers, and also from United fans who weren't impressed by his response.

It led to Boonen deleting his tweet soon afterwards.
