Ex-Man Utd star claims Arsenal are 'the only club who can challenge' Man City in the Premier League

Manchester City have been told that Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are the only team who can stop them retaining the Premier League this season.

Pep Guardiola's men have enjoyed a brilliant start to the campaign and are unbeaten in the English top flight so far. In midweek, City drew at FC Copenhagen which ended up being enough to secure their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Things are looking up for the Blues however they only sit second in the Premier League thanks to the brilliant start from the Gunners. According to former Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley, the North London club are the only team standing in the Blues' way this campaign.

Speaking to Sky Bet, Cleverley explained: " Arsenal have the best chance of challenging Manchester City for the title right now. Antonio Conte is a great manager at Spurs, but their style of play limits them to challenging for Champions League places.

"Arsenal are exciting, they are full of confidence and have some very physical players in the spine of that team. The forward line is full of youth, enthusiasm, confidence and goals – they’re the challengers for me."

In recent years a trip to Anfield would be the clash of the two Premier League hopefuls but Sunday's visit to Merseyside has taken on a different feel following both clubs' respective starts. Before kick off, City are 13 points clear of Liverpool who are languishing in 10th.

Too many draws and defeats to Manchester United and Arsenal have seen City pull away from their rivals. With Erling Haaland in incredible form, the Blues are favourites to secure the three points this weekend.
